My work explores how context modifies perception. I am interested in combining and recontextualizing found imagery. By quilting seemingly unrelated reference images together as paintings and drawings, I alter the context of those images and force the viewer to reassess their meaning, aesthetic value, and significance. This creates an environment where the viewer can formulate meanings and narratives from the pictures that may not intentionally be there. In so doing, the work provides a metaphor for the experience of living in the contemporary world, wherein we are exposed to an immense—but fragmentary—array of information and viewpoints, and are left to stitch them together into a coherent whole.
